Nuala Healy

Nuala is presented with the Godolphin Trophy at the ITBA stud awards, in special recognition of managing to tolerate Michael Moore for so long.

Nuala Healy is the person that does much of the actual work at Ballincurrig – the Head Girl if that is not too sexist a term to use in this day and age. It is Nuala that supervises the day-to-day development of foals and preparation of sales horses; Nuala who is likely to send photos or videos of the foals; and Nuala that helps Ballincurrig clients tread the careful path between hope and experience, euphoria and depression, that is the inevitable accompaniment to trying to raise and sell young Jumps horses without going broke,

However, it is her kindly master, Merry Michael, that greets and talks to potential buyers at the sales, suggests likely price ranges and selling strategies to clients (albeit with the necessary touch of negative news to stimulate realistic reserves), and ultimately maximises their chances of the best price that each youngster can bring.

Michael and Nuala are a tremendous team, with Michael feeding the horses and taking care of the bullshit, and Nuala doing everything else.
